May 26, 2010
By Sean Donahue
U.S. Mens National Team head coach Bob Bradley today announced the final 23-man roster the U.S. will take to the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
As expected, former New England Revolution midfielder Clint Dempsey made the roster. Dempsey, who currently plays for Fulham FC, was the only U.S. player to score in the last World Cup.
Experienced Houston Dynamo forward Brian Ching was left off the roster. In addition to Jozy Altidore, Bradley selected three forwards with little international experience: Edson Buddle, Robbie Findley, and Herculez Gomez. Gomez scored his first international goal on Tuesday in the U.S. 4-2 loss to Czech Republic, while Buddle and Findley have yet to score on the international stage.
Otherwise, there were few surprises in Bradleys final roster.
The U.S. plays Turkey on Saturday, May 29th in Philadelphia at 2PM before leaving for South Africa the next day.
