Boston Aztec begin WPSL title defense with new signings
March 28, 2011
In 2010, the Boston Aztec Breakers Reserves and Boston Aztec U23 women's soccer teams lit up the Northeast Division of WPSL's East Conference. The teams finished with identical 8-1-1 regular season records to top the table, met in an epic WPSL East Conference OT 2-1 thriller won by the Breakers Reserves, who then went on to win the 2010 WPSL National Championship. Now the two teams are reloading to make similar runs in 2011.
So far, the Aztec Breakers Reserves, the official reserve team of the Boston Breakers, have signed Megan Mischler, Carson Laderoute, Gayle Kutzmann, Emmi Doniak, Chelsea Aberson, Alane Izu, Jordan Bishop, and Heather Fuller. As for the Aztec 23s, a team made up of mostly top level current college players, their roster already has 22 players from programs such as Boston University, Michigan, Providence College, Albany, San Diego State and Franklin Pierce.
Meanwhile, the WPSL recently announced the East Conference's 2011 schedule. The season kicks off for both Aztec teams on May 14 when the Aztec U23s head on the road to Connecticut to match up against the CFC Passion while the 2010 WPSL champion Boston Aztec Breakers Reserves head to New Hampshire to face Seacoast United.
