Bobcats Claw Central Conn.

Overcome Early Deficit

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. -- Sara Lawlor and the Quinnipiac women's soccer team overcame an early 1-0 deficit to defeat Central Connecticut State University, 2-1, on the road Sunday afternoon.

Lawlor had a goal and an assist and Meagan McLoughlin scored in the Bobcats' first Northeast Conference clash of the season. The Bobcats improved to 8-2 (1-0 in the NEC) and Central dropped to 3-6-1 (0-1).

Rachel Caneen got the host Blue Devils on the board first with her third goal of the season in the ninth minute. The Bobcats scored the equalizer before halftime when Lawlor netted her fifth, assisted by Amanda Bilas, in the 26th minute.

Lawlor and Lauren Peacock assisted McLoughlin?s game-winner in the 59th minute ? one of the Bobcats 17 shots, compared to 13 for Central Conn.

Chloe Beizer made six saves for Quinnipiac while counterpart Caity Casey stop seven shots for CCSU.
