Bentley College junior forward and Holliston, Mass., native Cheryl Boyd has been named the Northeast-10 women's soccer player of the week.

Boyd helped the Falcons to wins over Assumption and Post last week, scoring game-winning goals in both contests. The women’s soccer team is 2-2 on the season and has won two straight games.

Boyd, who led the Falcons in goals last season with seven, has already gotten off to a fast start with two goals in four games to lead the team. In last Wednesday’s home-opener against the Greyhounds, she scored the game-winning goal three minutes into the second overtime to give the Falcons a 1-0 win.

Saturday against Pace, Boyd’s goal with just under seven minutes remaining broke a 1-1 tie and provided the winning margin for the Falcons.

A NE-10 All-Conference third team and NE-10 All-Academic second team selection a year ago, Boyd is a Player of the Week for the first time in her career.

The Falcons return to the pitch this Wednesday at New York Tech for a 4:30 p.m. kick-off.
