Bedoya, Kelly Honored by ACC

Eagles Place Six on Conference Teams

Boston College men’s soccer midfielder Alejandro Bedoya and coach Ed Kelly, both key cogs in the Eagles run to the Atlantic Coast Conference regular season title, were named league’s Offensive Player and Coach of the Year, respectively.

The Eagles, who placed a total of six players on the All-ACC first-, second- and Freshman teams, finished 7-1-0 in the ACC under Kelly, earning the No. 1 seed in the upcoming conference tournament.

Bedoya, a three-time winner of the conference’s Player of the Week award, posted 74 shots, seven goals -- including four game-winning scores -- in 17 games.

Junior midfielder Reuben Ayarna joined Bedoya on the All-ACC First Team after recording 13 points - two goals and a team-high nine assists - in 17 games.

Junior goalkeeper Chris Brown, who has played all but 18 minutes this fall, and senior striker Sherron Manswell, who led BC with eight goals in the regular season, earned All-Conference Second-Team recognition.

In addition, freshmen Shawn Chin and Karl Reddick captured All-ACC Freshman Team honors. Chin, a Miami, Fla., resident started 16-of-17 games and recorded eight points - three goals and two assists. Reddick, who hails from Pottstown, Pa., also started 16 times in the midfield and totaled one goal and one assist on the season.

BC will play the winner of Virginia and NC State on Wednesday, Nov. 14 at 2:30 p.m. at the SAS Soccer Complex in Cary, N.C.
