BU Nearly Sweeps Conference Weeklys

Terriers Grab 3-of-4 Awards

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Boston University nearly swept all the America East soccer awards. Luckily, for UMBC’s Morgan Warrington (Women’s Rookie of the Week), BU left one for someone else.

The Terriers’ Neil Hlavaty was tabbed the America East Men's Soccer Player of the Week after scoring the game-winning goal over UMBC on Saturday while teammate Adam O'Neal garnered Rookie of the Week honors.

Meanwhile, women’s goalkeeper Christina Reuter was named the America East Women's Soccer Player of the Week after helping her team capture a share the of the regular-season crown by recording two shutouts last week.

Hlavaty scored the game-winning goal in the Terriers’ 2-1 win over conference-leading UMBC on Saturday. Hlavaty, who has 12 points on three goals and six assists this season, scored off a free kick 11:30 into the second half. The win helped BU leap over the Retrievers in the conference standings with two games to play in the regular season.

O’Neal scored the game-tying goal in the Terriers’ 1-1 double-overtime deadlock with Hartford on Wednesday. He also had an assist in his team’s 2-1 victory over UMBC on Saturday. O'Neal leads the Terriers in points (16) and goals (8).

Reuter did not allow a goal in 193:44 minutes of action last week and recorded 12 saves. Reuter made four stops to help the Terriers clinch a share of the America East regular-season title in a 2-0 shutout over Binghamton on Sunday. Before that, she made eight saves in a scoreless double-overtime tie against New Hampshire Thursday.
