February 26, 2009
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College women’s soccer team has hired former George Washington assistant Neel Bhattacharjee as an assistant coach.
Bhattacharjee, who will assist head coach Alison Kulik, comes to BC after three years at George Washington, where his primary duties included goalkeeper instruction, recruiting and general team administrative logistics.
"We are thrilled to have someone of Neels’ caliber join our staff. Having been an associate head coach at GWU, he comes to the Heights with experience which will enable our program to grow,’’ said Kulik.
Bhattacharjee worked with GW’s freshman goalkeeper Lindsey Rowe, who was named to the Atlantic 10 All-Rookie team. She led the conference in saves in her first season. Bhattacharjee is involved in the Region I and Region IV Olympic Developmental Program as a goalkeeper coach. In 2006, he was on staff as a coach with the US Under-21 Women’s National team for their trip to England and Scotland.
Battacharjee also worked with the Under-18 team in the first year of the US Soccer Development Academy in 2007-08. Battacharjee worked as an instructor at Connecticut-based SoccerPlus Goalkeeper School and Star Goalkeeper Academy, as well as working with the goalkeepers for Bethesda Soccer Club, Loudoun Soccer Club and Reston FC.
