Assumption Women's Coach Resigns
Stafford Was Winningest Women's Soccer Coach in School History
April 27, 2009
WORCESTER, Mass. – Assumption College women’s soccer coach Neil Stafford has resigned effective immediately, Ted Paulauskas, Assumption’s Direcotor of Athletics, announced Monday.
Stafford, who coached the women’s team since 2001, is expected to accept another position in the collegiate ranks in the near future.
Stafford led the Greyhounds to a 7-9-2 overall record in 2008 and is the all-time winningest coach in Assumption women’s soccer history, posting a 72-61-16 mark in his eight years.
In 2004 the team advanced to the Northeast-10 Conference final and earned the program’s first NCAA regional bid and advancing to the title game. That squad was ranked No. 14 in the final national poll. In 2005, the team reached the final of both the conference playoffs and the regional tournament.
The Greyhounds are an NCCA Division II institution and a member of the Northeast-10 Conference. Search for a replacement will begin immediately.
