Area Players Make Academy All-Stars

All Local Development Academy Teams Represented

CARSON, Calif. – The U.S. Soccer Development Academy announced the Starting XI for each of its eight conferences in both the Under-17/18 and Under15/16 age groups, with plenty of local players amongst the league’s Northeast all-stars.

Two players each from FC Greater Boston and Oakwood SC and another from Seacoast United made the Northeast Starting XI in the 17/18 age group. Defender Scott Prozeller and forward Ryan Ruffing were the representatives from FC Greater Boston. Midfielder Conor Fitzpatrick and striker Brian Rogers Albertson made the team out of Oakwood. Seacoast’s Steve Palumbo rounded out the list highlighted by the region’s coach of the year, Seacoast’s Rob Thompson.

In the Under 15/16 bracket, FC Greater Boston defender Will Donovan and midfielder Andre Ciliotta made the cut, while South Central Premier (Connecticut) was represented by forward Doural Scott

The recipients of the awards were voted upon by U.S. Soccer’s Development Academy coaches and National Team scouts. Of the 62 teams that participated in the inaugural season of the Development Academy, 42 are represented in the U17/18 Starting XI lists and along with 41 in the U15/16 group.

As the nine-month Development Academy season draws to a close, Finals Week is well underway at The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif. with 16 conference champions squaring off in group play.
