Davidsson, Luscinski among league's best this week
September 9, 2008
Boston University senior keeper Hrafn Davidsson and freshman midfielder Jessica Luscinski (Bedford, N.H.) were named America East men’s Player of the Week and women’s Rookie of the Week, respectively.
Both athletes came up huge in recent games against the University of Connecticut.
Davidsson posted a shutout in the Terriers' 0-0 double-overtime tie against the third-ranked Huskies Sunday, his seventh career shutout. The point is the Terriers’ first against the Huskies since 1992. Davidsson made four saves against UConn, which ranked eighth in the nation last season in goals per game (2.21).
This week, the Terrier men visit No. 22 St. John’s on Friday at 8 p.m. before returning home to Nickerson Field to host Rhode Island on Sunday at 4:30 p.m.
Meanwhile, in her first career start, Luscinski netted the game-winning goal in BU’s upset victory at 19th-ranked UConn Sunday. Luscinski notched her first career goal in the 10th minute as she finished a cross from junior Emily Pallotta (Andover, Mass./Andover). The win was BU’s first over a ranked opponent in two years.
The Lady Terriers host Wisconsin Friday at 7 p.m. and Northeastern Sunday at 1 p.m.
